The Village of South Holland is located just south of Chicago, Illinois and is populated by approximately 25,000 people covering approximately 10 sq. miles. Our response is comprised of over 8000+ homes, industrial facilities, commercial businesses, rail & road including parts of I-80, I-94 and I-294. The South Holland Fire Department is a part of MABAS 24. We responded to 3,456 fire and EMS calls in 2008, including auto-aid and box alarms. We carry an ISO rating of 3. The South Holland Fire Department has 25 full-time members supplemented by about 23 paid-on-call firefighters. We are an Advance Life Support (ALS) EMS response department. Some members have been trained to respond as a Technical Rescue Team (TRT), Combined Area Response Team (CART), Dive Rescue team, & Hazardous-Materials response team. We also have a Fire Prevention Bureau and a Fire/Arson investigation unit. These are just some of the specialized services we provide. Local 4109 was chartered on May 21, 2001. The South Holland Professional Firefighters Association currently has 22 members. We are affiliated with AFFI - Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois, IAFF - International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-CIO-CLC. |
